After a bit of an unplanned hiatus, Episode #289 of Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction is finally available. This episode features an interview with renowned author Kim Stanley Robinson. Mr. Robinson talks about his two most recent books, 2312 and Aurora. He describes his views on our planet’s imminent and severe ecological changes, and talks about some of the harsh realities facing humanity’s desire to travel to the stars.
Mr. Robinson also discusses receiving the 2016 Robert A. Heinlein Award, which is awarded for “for outstanding published works in science fiction and technical writings to inspire the human exploration of space.” In addition, he gives a brief description of his next novel, New York 2140.
