“Science in Science Fiction” Author Event March 22nd in Arlington, VA!

The Fast Forward team is helping with an author event this Sunday, March 22nd!

There will be a panel on “Putting the Science in Science Fiction” at 1:30pm at the Arlington, VA planetarium.

Author Terry Pratchett has passed away

The Fast Forward team is deeply saddened to learn that Sir Terry Pratchett, author of the Discworld series, has passed away at the age of 66. Pratchett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago, but continued to write books up through last year. He appeared as a guest on Fast Forward multiple times, and was always gracious, informative and humorous. His passing is a great loss to readers everywhere.

Changes to SFWA membership requirements

Hey, here’s some interesting news! The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America has announced changes in its requirements for Active and Associate memberships.

From the SFWA website:

In a referendum with a third of voting members participating and over 6 to 1 in favor, the membership of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America has approved bylaw changes that enable SFWA to accept self-publication and small-press credits for Active and Associate memberships in the organization.
